G. E. Bursley & Company Grows From Meager Beginning to Big Concern

Fort Wayne Distributors and Manufacturers of Food Products Complete Fortieth Year of Remarkable Growth--Brief Chronology of Pioneer Business.

With the advent of 1922, G. E. Bursley & Company, one of the leading distributors and manufacturers of food products in the middle west completes its 40th year of remarkable progress and expansion, the great concern of today having had its humble beginning in the year 1881.

E. M. Aldrich. G. E. Bursley and J. M. McKay were the men identitied with the little firm of wholesale grocers and commission merchants entablished in 1881 at 121 West Main street which eventually grew into present G. E. Bursley & Company at Clinton and Superior streets.

  12. RINGENBERG STORE In 1928, John Ringenberg and his wife, Ruby, opened a grocery and dry goods store in the Schepelmann building on the north side of Main Street next door to the Drug Store. They featured the Little Elf products which were distributed by The Bursley Company. An interesting fact about the "Little Elf" brand name was that it was designed by Marion Lochner, one of the first graduates of Woodburn High School. Mr. Lochner was vice-president of The Bursley Company in 1955.
