- 27 May 1878 A prominent attorney firm has recently compromised a bastardy case in which the defendant is a wholesale liquor dealer and the plaintiff a recent peanut vendor. He is a married man with four, more or less, children and she a widow with six children and another in view. She is now living in the east end. The case was settled for $500.
- 21 Sep 1878 The Rhoades-Wells bastardy case will focus today.
- 1 Oct 1878 Yesterday during the progress of the Bowser bastardy case before Esquire Ryan, a volunteer witness who gave the name of Nickafoose and said he was a Justice of the Peace in Perry Township, testified he had been criminally intimate with the plaintiff in this case.
- 3 Oct 1878 Esquire Ryan will give his decision in the Bowser bastardy case this afternoon.
